First of all close, all currently running applications and save any data. You will need to reboot your machine during the install process, so best to do this first.
PLEASE NOTE : If you install a new browser (e.g. Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera or Safari) after our client software, please re-install our software so that it will work properly with your new browser. It does not need to be re-installed if you upgrade an existing browser e.g. Internet Explorer v7 upgraded to Internet Explorer v8.0.
You need to download the software from the My Account after registration.
a. Navigate in your web browser to https://www.ukanon.org/login.aspx
b. Enter your loginid and password
c. Select Downloads from the User Menu after login
d. Click to download either the 32-bit (most common version) or the 64-bit version of our software (read thisFAQ if you are not sure how to tell which version you are running on your machine)
e. When prompted, select “Save”
f. You will then be prompted for the location to save the file to (you can change the location you save the file to e.g. to the desktop)
g. The file will then be downloaded
h. Close your web browser (no need to logout, the website logs you out automatically)
Double-click on the file you have downloaded e.g. ukanon_x32.msi or ukanon_x64.msi
Confirm that you wish to "run" the file (the installer file is certified to be authentic, virus free and malware free)
You will then be presented with our installation wizard, click "Next" to continue
Either change the destination folder or (recommended) click "Next" to accept the default location for the installation
You may get prompted to “Allow” the program to continue (if UAC is not disabled on your machine - User Access Control).
Also, you may be prompted to close any open applications if you have not closed them all. The installation will continue
When complete, click Close
You will then be prompted to restart your computer – select Yes to restart
Once restarted, our software will automatically start and prompt you to enter your username and password, please enter them and click OK (if it doesn't, then please double-click on the desktop icon for ProxyCap)
There will then be an icon in your system tray
Open a web browser and navigate to http://www.ukanon.org/more-ip-info.aspx this will show your “location” as being in the UK. Your personal IP address will now no longer be visible to any unwanted internet tappers or listeners.
By default, the software is set to route browser traffic through our UK data-center, this can be changed by right-mouse click on the icon in the system tray and select "Use US Servers" if you prefer.
