Our service has been nearly a year in the making and has involved numerous people with varying skills in different business areas. It is the brain-child of the Founder and Technical Architect of uk:anon, Stuart Brown, bringing over 20 years of IT experience to the table "I wanted to give consumers a simple, easy to use method of giving them a choice to better manage their personal use of the internet. To help educate them as to how easily they unwittingly give away too much personal information - rarely giving it a thought and rarely understanding how and what they give away."
uk:anon is only part of the story if you value your privacy and anonymity on the web. Advertising, marketing companies and ISP's specialise in "people profiling" - they take the easy route as they rely upon people's naivety and lack of understanding as to how the web works to track you, your habits and that of your family. Over the coming years in our 24x7 internet-centric lives, the building of profiles is still in its infancy. You need to act now to safeguard your own futures, to learn and understand unfortunately the unseen side to the internet.
There is no "free lunch", as always if it sounds too good to be true then IT IS too good to be true.
Education of teachers, parents and students is a critical component of what we do here at uk:anon - see here. Supporting Callum "Gingerking" Brown's choice of charities is at the heart of what drives the organisation forward. To have watched the sheer bravery, determination and positive attitude of a teenager facing such adversity was an extremely humbling experience. The support of all those (known and unknown) people, from clowns to scientists, drs, nurses and radiologists, charity workers and fundraisers to the team of three surgeons who spent over 11 hours operating on Callum's brain - many, many thanks.
